This is a giclée print of the silhouette of Calton Hill, one of Edinburgh's main hills, right in the city centre. It offers stunning vistas across the city and beyond. The Dugald Stewart Monument (on the right) is a memorial to the Scottish philosopher and is a circular temple of 9 fluted Corinthian columns around an elevated urn. The image also shows the City Observatory, a Greek temple styled building, designed by William Henry Playfair in 1818
These prints are created by firstly outlining the historical monument to create a silhouette, and then layering that artwork over a section of the specified area on a beautiful old map.
This print measures 17 x 17cm. We have a wide range of these prints covering many iconic buildings, monuments and statues from around our beautiful area of East Lothian, as well many famous landmarks from Scotland and the wider UK. A set of 4 framed Old Map Silhouettes hanging in a square formation (2 x 2) is a very striking design statement to enhance any wall, as are 3 (or 5) hanging side by side.
